What is CT?
CT or CAT Scan is an acronym for computer-aided tomography. This machine uses Xray tubes that move very fast to take detailed pictures of your body. Most scans are done in as low as one minute. Then, your doctor can have your report in less than two hours.
Oral contrast such as barium, gastrographin or VoLumen may be used to highlight the digestive system. IV Contrast is used to visualize arteries, blood flow or how blood interacts with tissue.
For IV contrast all CT Imaging Centers require you to obtain labs to check for Kidney function. At Express Medical Imaging, we want to save you the cost and hassle of another lab appointment. We provide your lab test instantly, onsite as a complimentary part of your exam.
Why is our CT Different?
Express Medical Imaging uses a state-of-the-art 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner. This scanner allows us to decrease scan times to seconds, not minutes like other CT scanners. We also can give less radiation and produce scans that are as thin as a pencil tip. These images help your doctor create the best care plan for you.
Additionally, the 64 slice allows us to do advanced imaging such as CT enterography, a detailed look into your small bowels and large intestines. 3d reconstructions of any body part can help your surgeon plan your procedure, or your doctor clearly visualize a disease process.
Claustrophobia is not much of an issue on the 64 slice due to the open nature of the bore, the extremely fast scan times and the caring nature of our technologists. Our CT scanner can comfortably accommodate patients up to 450 lbs.
